Tottenham and Lyon met in the second round of the 1967/68 European Cup Winners’ Cup, Louis Hon’s side overcoming Bill Nicholson’s Spurs on away goals, following a 1-0 win at home and a 4-3 defeat at White Hart Lane.

Let’s hope AVB and the players have better luck this evening – it won’t be an easy match by any means.

  1. I was there on the 4-3.A bitof background. civers was dropped from the first leg with Billy Nick rather embarrasinglytelling him to watch and learn. The secnd leg was going to be a formality and with the last fifteenminues to go we were ahead. Cant remeber exactly but i think it was by 4-1 and they got a couple of late goals (Sound familiar) It was my first away goals count double experience and i did not know that we lostunti wtching the TV highlights that night. What a shock so we owe them one on Thursday

    • Sorry mate, but we didn't sign Chivers until Jan. '68 (British record of £125,000!). I can see why we lost though – where was Mike England?
