QPR targeting January move for Spurs player

Sebastien Bassong

QPR are planning to sign Tottenham defender Sebastien Bassong in January, who they almost signed in the summer only for the move to fall apart when Spurs failed to talk Bolton into selling them England centre-back Gary Cahill.

“We have already begun talking about what we are going to do in January and have a number of ideas,” said Warnock.

“There are so many things that are possibilities and if I ask for a certain player, the board will support me. At the moment, a striker and a defender are my two priorities.

“We are looking abroad, as well as in this country. We would be silly not to, because Tony has all these contacts.

“We haven’t got a big enough squad, but we just have to keep going now until January and look to improve again.”

Warnock added: “Tony has given me great support. I couldn’t wish for more backing from him since he arrived.

“People should know that we are still in the infancy of what we are trying to do.”

  1. We need him at the moment. We can't get rid of him without brining in somebody else, and of course there would be no point if they weren't better than him.

Ledley and Galas are getting on and are injury prone. Dawson seems to be picking up a few injuries now and has regressed a little. Caulka (spelling?) is on a season long loan, is currently injured and also doesn't have the best injury record. He might make the squad next season but probably wouldn't start. That only really leaves Kaboom as our only 'reliable' (fitness wise, and he has improved a lot, albeit not being quite the finished article just yet) center half.

Bassong is not a terrible center half. He would probably get into the Arse and Pool teams/squads, lets not be hasty!
