Real Madrid preparing £60million bid for Tottenham star

The transfer silly season continues with reports suggesting that Tottenham Hotspur are bracing themselves to receive a £60million bid for Hugo Lloris.

According to The Sun, Real Madrid are preparing to table an offer for the Spurs captain who is recouperating after his efforts as part of France’s World Cup winning side.

While Chelsea’s Thibaut Courtois has been heavily linked with a move to the Champions League winners, the paper claims that Madrid will move for the Belgian if they are told where to go by Tottenham.

Lloris has four years to run on his existing deal at Tottenham and last week insisted he has many ‘beautiful years’ to come in north London.

If Daniel Levy sold the 31-year-old, it would cause an uproar among the Tottenham fanbase, Lloris joined us for £12m move from Lyon in 2012 and had to endure three seasons of Europa League football with us, when frankly he could have asked to leave and played for any of Europe’s top clubs.

Apparently, ‘Sources close to Lloris, 31, suggest he is open to a move to Spain — but would not try to force his way out of North London.’

Granted, most footballers would be flattered by interest from a giant in world football, but if Liverpool have just paid £67million to sign Alisson from Roma, then Lloris is worth well in excess of that amount.

We’re marking this rumour down as a non-starter. There is absolutely no chance Mauricio Pochettino would sanction the sale of one of our star players.
