Redknapp’s post match reaction to Spurs 2-1 Arsenal

Spurs boss Harry Redknapp praised his young defender, who has spent time on loan with QPR and Aston Villa.

“He’s a great attacking full-back and he loves to get forward,” Redknapp said.

“It was a good strike from Karl. He’s done ever so well and he’s had a good start to the season.”

And Redknapp was pleased his tactics came to fruition as Arsenal’s poor start to the season continued.

“They had a lot of possession in the first half. It was difficult. They played with three in midfield with one up and so they were always going to hold sway in terms of possession.

“I played two strikers so I went for a very attacking team and we got the goal before half-time.

“To be honest I nearly made a change before half-time to thicken us up in there but I thought we’ll see how we go.

“They got off to a better start in the second-half but we upped it and got better and stronger and in the second-half we had all the chances.

The win moves Tottenham into sixth place in the Barclays Premier League while Arsenal are now in 15th.

Have something to tell us about this article?

  1. Great victory for Spurs although I feel our strikers could have done better. There was some selfishness about not passing the ball across up front which could have resulted in goals.

  2. My team selection prior to game was the same except I had Sandro in and VDV I was screaming at half time to make the change, but still he sat there. Harry is one lucky fella. This could have gone either way. Our squad is good enough for top four, only Harry's dithering and seemingly lack of tactical talent will prevent us. As for VDV I don't like the arrogant way he takes all the corners free kicks and the way Harry sucks up to his unstoppable arrogance. He could be a threat to the team spirit if not controlled.

    • Could not agree more mate, VDV spoils the flow of the team sometimes. He scores because he is ultimately a greedy git. Difficult for Harry to leave him out though, especially when he is on the scoresheet. Needs to play as a second striker or not at all.

He has no pace, sometimes he is a luxury we cannot afford.

  3. Team should be setup in two ways depending on the opposition.

Defence is easy and is always the same.

    Sandro and Parker/Huddlestone, Modric/VDV

    Bale, Adebayor, Lennon

    4-4-2 or 4-4-1-1

    Parker, Modric, Bale, Lennon

    VDV/Defoe, Adebayor

Sometime VDV and Modric cannot play in the same team, you have to lose one of them to win the ball against better teams.

We also need to teach Bale, Lennon, Dos Santos, VDV and Pinear, how to play 4-3-3.

  4. 3-5-2 Harry?

Would allow you to play all our best front players in the correct areas of the pitch.

    Walker, Gallas, King/BAE

    Sandro, Parker

    Bale Lennon

  5. Karl lloks the bizz. We need to get rid of Defoe cos hes shjite and that little moneygrabbing nazi fuck weasal(Imagine if he was a bird and you woke up in bed next to him in your worst f'ing nightmare although Wilshire would love it)
