Report: Agent claims Spurs target no longer wants to leave club

Roma midfielder Lorenzo Pellegrini was keen on a move to Tottenham Hotspur last month, according to a report from Calciomercato.

The agent of the 23-year-old has even said to have visited London to hold talks with Spurs  club officials with his ambition to play in the Champions League next season.

His agent, Giampiero Pocetta has now revealed that Pellegrini has had a change of heart after discussing his future with Roma icon Francesco Totti and now wants to remain with the Serie A side.

Pellegrini’s contract contains a £31 million transfer release clause and despite the apparent interest in his services, he now wants to focus on his future at his current employer.

Pocetta told Sky Sport Italia: “There has been a lot of talk about him, there have been talks with many teams who have shown their projects, some of which are very interesting. Lorenzo is flattered by all this, they wanted him as much in Italy as abroad but he is determined to remain in the Giallorossi.

“Totti’s words have given him responsibility. He is a mature boy and he does not run away. Beyond this, however, he is convinced about Roma’s project.”

With Pellegrini operating as a central midfielder it seems unlikely that Mauricio Pochettino would want to recruit two players in the same position with Tanguy Ndombele said to be on the verge of a switch from Lyon to the Champions League finalists (L’Equipe).
