Report: Aston Villa game set to be postponed; Fulham unhappy over late contact

Reports are emerging this morning which suggest that Tottenham Hotspur’s upcoming Premier League fixture against Aston Villa could be postponed.

Tottenham are due to travel to Villa Park on Wednesday evening as they look to resume their top flight campaign following last night’s 5-0 win against Marine in the FA Cup.

Spurs head coach Jose Mourinho was asked following the game about whether he expects to face Villa and claimed that the match was going ahead as planned.

Aston Villa have been hit hard by the coronavirus pandemic with ten players and four staff having tested positive for COVID-19 last week which saw their Bodymoor Heath training ground have to close its doors (Independent).

Villa fulfilled their FA Cup third round tie at home to Liverpool on Friday evening when they fielded a starting eleven made up of seven under-23 players and four from the under-18s (BBC).

Football journalist Alasdair Gold has claimed that the fixture against Villa looks set to be cancelled and instead replaced by the outstanding match against Fulham which was recently postponed in similar circumstances (Football.London).

Fulham are said to be unhappy at the short notice of the possibility of facing Spurs at Craven Cottage with both clubs having been informed of the fixture.
