Report: Chelsea player still on Tottenham’s radar despite European interest

Tottenham Hotspur are continuing to monitor Willian’s situation at Chelsea ahead of his contract expiring at the end of the season claim the Evening Standard.

The 31-year-old midfielder will become a free agent in the summer when his £110,000-a-week deal runs out.

Chelsea boss Frank Lampard is said to be keen to hold onto the player who wants at least a two-year contract extension along with a significant pay rise.

Willian came close to signing for Spurs in the summer of 2013, only for Chelsea to swoop in and bring him to Stamford Bridge, owner Roman Abramovich was said to have intervened when stealing him from under the noses of their rivals when he joined from Anzhi Makhachkala (BBC Sport).

The midfielder scored twice against Spurs in the 2-0 defeat at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium prior to Christmas which saw Jose Mourinho’s side fail to close the points gap between both teams to just goal difference.

Barcelona, Juventus and AC Milan are all also reported to be keen on the player.
