Report: Club could rekindle their interest in Spurs defender in January

Tottenham Hotspur defender Cameron Carter-Vickers will return to North London in the New Year.

The 21-year-old defender joined Stoke City on a season long loan in the summer but the agreement was cut short by Spurs and will be back at the Champions League finalists on January 2nd.

The USA international had found regular first team football at the Championship outfit hard to come by following the appointment of Michael O’Neill as manager.

Carter-Vickers stint at Stoke was his fourth consecutive loan spell at a Championship club having also turned out for Sheffield United, Ipswich Town and Swansea City over the past three seasons.

The Derby Telegraph claim that Derby County missed out to Stoke on bringing the centre half to Pride Park and could look to rekindle their interest now that the deal has been terminated.

Carter-Vickers had not featured in a match day squad for Stoke since the end of November and played fifteen matches in all competitions during his time at the bet365 stadium (transfermarkt).
