Report: European giant have Poch’s phone number and are keen on his services

Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino has emerged as a surprise candidate for the Bayern Munich job.

German news outlet Sport1 claim that the Argentine is being considered as a potential replacement for current manager Niko Kovac.

Despite having hammered Spurs 7-2 in the Champions League earlier this month, Bayern have only managed to win five of their opening nine Bundesliga matches this season and sit second in the table behind Borussia Monchengladbach.

The report suggests that Munich’s sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic is keen on Pochettino and even has the phone number of the Spurs boss.

Erik ten Hag and Ralf Rangnick are also being considered as potential replacements for Kovac, who questioned his side’s mentality after they only narrowly beat division two side Bochum 2-1 in the German Cup and claimed they underestimated their opponents.

Pochettino has insisted that he is remaining calm despite coming under heavy pressure following the North London side’s poor start to the campaign (Sky Sports) and recently joked that he could remain in charge for another five years whilst stating he is fully committed to the club (Sky Sports).
