Report: Journalist claims Spurs player could still leave this evening

Victor Wanyama could still depart Tottenham Hotspur this evening according to reports.

The Athletic’s Charlie Eccleshare has taken to Twitter to dismiss claims that the Kenyan midfielder will move to French side Amiens, but a move elsewhere could still be possible.

Celtic were keen on bringing Wanyama back to Parkhead, but the midfielder’s £65,000 a week wages have proven to be an issue (Mail).

Wanyama has made just two Premier League appearances this season after finding himself surplus to requirements with the likes of Eric Dier, Moussa Sissoko, Harry Winks, Oliver Skipp and Tanguy Ndombele all ahead of him.

The 28-year-old has scored seven goals in 97 appearances for Tottenham and still has 18 months remaining on his contract (transfermarkt).

The player enjoyed a hugely successful first season at White Hart Lane following his move from Southampton but has struggled in recent times with injury.

He last made an appearance in Spurs colours when he came off the bench in the 3-1 defeat to Bayern Munich in December.
