Report: Leeds United identify Spurs-linked defender as alternative transfer target

Leeds United are reported to have identified Freiburg defender Robin Koch as a contingency if they are unable to secure a deal for Brighton’s Ben White, according to The Telegraph.

German news outlet Kicker reported last month that it is now ‘clear’ that the centre-back will not renew his contract with the Bundesliga side which is due to expire next summer (transfermarkt).

Freiburg’s sporting director Jochen Saier has told Heidelberg that he wanted to keep Koch, but it appears that his current side are fighting a losing battle.

The 24-year-old is seeking a new challenge and it appears he is not short of interested parties including Benfica, Sporting CP and AC Milan along with Spurs.

Arena Napoli claimed in March that Tottenham were interested in the centre half with the Bundesliga outfit said to have been holding out for £18.5 million.

White, who enjoyed a successful loan spell at Leeds and helped the club secure their top flight return last season is said to be their top target but have been unable to reach an agreement with Brighton (The Telegraph).
