Report: Manchester United bow out of yet another player linked with Spurs

Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United have both been linked with two reported transfer targets over the past few weeks.

The tabloids have been dominated with speculation surrounding both Paulo Dybala and Bruno Fernandes (Express).

However, news broke last night that United had withdrawn their interest in Dybala (BBC) and it was followed up with reports that they have also pulled the plug on any possibility of Fernandes making the move to Old Trafford this summer (BBC).

Fernandes enjoyed a stellar campaign with Sporting having scored 20 league goals and provided 13 assists from midfield (The Sun).

Opinion

Tottenham’s potential pursuit of either target could now be significantly easier considering United are now out of the picture.

Dybala’s wage demands (BBC) were an issue for United and it would likely pose a problem for Spurs.

Spurs are said to have sent an official to Portugal to negotiate with Sporting over a move for Fernandes (RTP), however it remains to be seen if it will be Fernandes, Lo Celso or neither who end up in North London come 5:01pm on Thursday.
