Report: Manchester United snub talks with Spurs-linked midfielder

Tottenham Hotspur could be set to return for a second attempt to lure Philippe Coutinho to North London this summer.

Football Insider reported yesterday that Barcelona have told Tottenham and other interested clubs that they can take the Brazilian international on loan for next season for a fee of around £8million along with having to cover his wages.

Any hopes which Spurs may hold of landing the 27-year-old may have received a boost after ESPN revealed that Manchester United have turned down the possibility to discuss a deal for the former Liverpool player.

The Old Trafford outfit are instead said to be monitoring Borussia Dortmund forward Jadon Sancho, Aston Villa captain Jack Grealish and Lyon striker Moussa Dembele.

Bayern chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has already revealed that the German giants have passed up the opportunity to make Coutinho’s deal permanent (Der Spiegel via Yahoo).

Tottenham are lacking a creative playmaker following the departure of Christian Eriksen in January and desperate need a player who can play a killer pass into the likes of Harry Kane.

Coutinho would be a fantastic addition, however, there would likely be plenty of competition to land him on loan.
