Report: Mourinho phones player about potential Tottenham transfer

Tottenham Hotspur are being linked with a room for former Manchester United midfielder Marouane Fellaini.

Belgian news outlet DH Net have claimed that new head coach Jose Mourinho has personally telephoned Fellaini about the possibility of returning to the Premier League.

Fellaini left Old Trafford in February when he completed a permanent transfer Chinese Super League club Shandong Luneng having scored 22 goals in 177 appearances for the former Premier League champions (Sky Sports).

The report claims that the 32-year-old is Mourinho’s priority signing ahead of the January transfer window.

Fellaini was a first team regular during the Portuguese’s time in charge in Manchester but found himself somewhat out of favour under successor Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Opinion

Both Mauricio Pochettino and Jose Mourinho have tried the central midfield pairing of Harry Winks and Moussa Sissoko, with the match at United last Wednesday being the latest piece of proof that the experiment needs to be binned.

Fellaini is a better player than what he is given credit for and poses an aerial threat which is something that Spurs desperately lack.
