Report: Newcastle ready to rival Tottenham for summer transfer target

Newcastle United could be set to rival Tottenham Hotspur for the signature of Bournemouth’s Ryan Fraser.

Football Insider claim that should the Magpies prospective takeover by the Saudi Public Investment Fund be rubber stamped, they will look to overhaul the playing squad.

Newcastle are keen to recruit players who can make an imediate impact to the dressing room.

Fraser is out of contract at Bournemouth next month and has been heavily linked with a move to Tottenham with the North Londoners reportedly ready to offer the Scottish international a lucrative contract (Football Insider).

The 26-year-old is said to have become one of the most sought-after players in the Premier League because of his impending status as a free agent.

The former Aberdeen player joined Bournemouth for less than £500,000 in January 2013, when they were in League One (Bournemouth Echo).

He impressed last season when he found the net seven times and added 14 assists which the second best tally in the Premier League (transfermarkt).
