Report: Pochettino snubs opportunity to return to the Premier League

Mauricio Pochettino is reported to have snubbed an approach from Everton over the possibility of becoming their new manager (The Athletic).

Everton are on the look out for a successor to Marco Silva after they parted company with the former Watford and Hull boss yesterday.

Silva had seen his Everton side drop into the relegation zone following Wednesday night’s embarrassing defeat to rivals Liverpool.

The Toffees have appointed club legend Duncan Ferguson on an interim basis while the search for a new manager continues, but it does not appear that Pochettino sees his next project being on Merseyside.

Pochettino was dismissed as Spurs head coach late last month after a difficult start to the new season had seen the side in the unfamiliar position of fourteenth in the Premier League table heading into the international break.

The 47-year-old has also been linked with potentially taking over at Manchester United and North London rivals Arsenal (The Sun).

Opinion

Pochettino is right to snub Everton, his next job should be a step up at the likes of Real Madrid or Bayern Munich, rather than trying to solve the mess on Merseyside.
