Report: Premier League rival make ‘substantial offer’ for Tottenham target

Tottenham Hotspur could be set to recruit a new right-back this summer with uncertainty over the future of Kieran Trippier.

The England international has suffered with form and injury this season has made some high profile mistakes against Chelsea, Arsenal and Ajax which has seen him linked with a move away from the club with Napoli and Atletico Madrid having been credited with an interest in the 28-year-old (The Mirror).

One potential successor who has been frequently mentioned to be on Tottenham’s radar is Crystal Palace’s Aaron Wan-Bissaka (The Sun). However, Mauricio Pochettino’s side face stiff competition from Premier League rivals Manchester United.

According to Sky Sports, United have made a ‘substantial; bid’ for the 21-year-old with Palace not looking to sell but could be tempted by the size of the bid from the Old Trafford outfit.

The Daily Mail have previously reported that Palace value the highly-rated youngster at around £60million, who has three years left on his contract at Selhurst Park.

Opinion

It would be hugely disappointing if Spurs miss out on the signing of Wan-Bissaka given the fact that the right-back position is one of the highest priorities to strengthen ahead of next season.

Both Trippier and Serge Aurier have proven to be a liability in defence.
