Report: Premier League side to rush through £40m transfer to beat Spurs to signature

Leicester City are keen to push through a deal for Youri Tielemans as a matter of urgency with Tottenham Hotspur among a host of clubs also keen on the player (Daily Star).

Tielemans was linked with a move to Spurs during the January transfer window and was even offered to the club according to respected Belgian journalist Kristof Terreur.

Instead, he left Monaco in January on a loan deal to Leicester City and the Belgium international has been instrumental in the Foxes improvement under Brendan Rodgers in the second half of the season, scoring three times in 13 games whilst also providing four assists.

The report suggests that Leicester’s recently appointed Head of Recruitment Lee Congerton, has prioritised the task of trying to reach a swift agreement with Monaco over a permanent move.

According to The Sun, Monaco are holding out for £40million to part company with the 22-year-old on a permanent basis.

With Mauricio Pochettino likely to strengthen his squad in the summer, Tielemans would prove to be a smart addition if he can beat Leicester to a deal.
