Report: Real Madrid set to complete move for Spurs transfer target

Tottenham Hotspur’s opportunity to recruit any further fresh faces ended when the transfer window for Premier League clubs slammed shut on Thursday August 8th.

Meanwhile, clubs in some of the other major European leagues including Spain and France are still able to conduct business up until today.

Tottenham were heavily linked with a move for Sporting Lisbon midfielder Bruno Fernandes over the course of the summer along with a switch to Manchester United but a move to the Premier League failed to materialise (Metro).

ESPN Portugal journalist Manu Martin is reporting that Real Madrid are ready to complete a move for the Portuguese international before the window closes.

Fernandes recently revealed that Tottenham had made a number of offers for his services during the summer and had agreed personal terms, only for Sporting to turn down the bid (GQ Portugal).

If Madrid do manage to land the 24-year-old, it will certainly all but end any hope Christian Eriksen has of completing a switch to the La Liga giants.
