Report: Roma player’s agent is in London and keen on Spurs switch

The agent of Roma midfielder Lorenzo Pellegrini is reported to be in London to drum up interest in his client.

According to Calciomercato, the 22-year-old wants to play Champions League football next season and is interested in a move to Tottenham Hotspur. Ironically the report claims that he would also be open to a move to Arsenal but would have to settle for playing on Thursday nights in the Europa League.

Pellegrini has established himself as one of Roma’s key players since rejoining the Serie A giants in June 2017 from Sassuolo and penned a five-year contract (ESPN).

Calciomercato report that his contract includes a 35 million euro release clause which Roma are keen to get rid of by trying to offer him a new contract, but are unprepared to increase his wage but instead will offer him the vice-captaincy role.

Inter Milan are also said to be monitoring Pellegrini’s situation but are yet to make a move for the Italy international.

Opinion

Spurs have already been linked with a raft of midfielders this summer and at 35 million euros, Pellegrini would certainly fit within Tottenham’s budget.

Tanguy Ndombele must remain as the club’s primary transfer target despite the fact he will probably cost double the amount of Pellegrini.
