Report: Spurs and Chelsea among clubs keeping tabs on eight-goal striker

While Tottenham Hotspur dipped their toe in the transfer market for the first time in over 500 days during the summer with the arrivals of Jack Clarke, Tanguy Ndombele, Ryan Sessegnon and Giovani Lo Celso they failed to recruit a new striker.

While Dutch flop Vincent Janssen headed off to Mexico, Tottenham’s Champions League hero Fernando Llorente left the club following the expiration of his contract and linked up with Napoli.

The double departure has left Spurs short of an experienced out and out striker to play understudy to Harry Kane.

Kane’s absence due to illness against Everton saw Mauricio Pochettino decide to play Lucas Moura as the frontman but failed to play to the Brazilian’s strengths of playing in behind the Toffees defence to utilise his pace.

TeamTALK report that Tottenham are one of a number of clubs who have sent scouts to watch Metz striker Habib Diallo in action.

A host of Premier League clubs including Chelsea, Leicester City, Newcastle United, Norwich City and Watford are also keeping tabs on the 24-year-old.

Diallo has already scored eight times in thirteen appearances for Metz in Ligue 1 this season (transfermarkt) with the report suggesting that he could be available in January for around £10million.
