Journalist claims Spurs are not after player

Tottenham Hotspur had been reported to have been on the verge of their third signing of the transfer window, according to reports in Spain, however, the speculation has been dismissed by journalist Alasdair Gold.

Gold took to Twitter to claim that there is no substance to the rumours linking the club with a move for Dani Olmo.

Muchodeporte had reported that Spurs are ‘close’ to agreeing on a deal with Dani Olmo’s player’s representative to bring the Dinamo Zagreb midfielder to North London.

The 21-year-old impressed during Spain’s successful European Under-21 Championship campaign and has also been attracting interest from Manchester United, who according to Croatian news outlet Sportske Novosti, were prepared to pay £35million to land the former Barcelona product.

After spending seven years as a Barcelona academy player he made the switch to Croatia and joined Dinamo Zagreb in 2014.

During his time in the Croatian capital, he has won four league titles and three cups and has enjoyed regular first-team football with would have been difficult to come by with the Catalan giants.

Olmo scored three goals during the tournament and was named man of the match for his performance in the final as Spain beat Germany to lift the trophy.

The report claims that Spurs are preparing to pay €25m (£22m) to tie up a deal for the player who has two years left to run on his contract in Croatia.

He scored 12 goals in all competitions for Dinamo Zagreb during their 2018/19 campaign.
