Tottenham Hotspur were heavily linked with a loan move for Barcelona’s Philippe Coutinho only for the move to fail to materalise (BBC).

Former Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino was reported to have been furious with the club’s board after the Brazilian instead made the season-long switch to German giants Bayern Munich instead (The Sun).

According to German news outlet Bild, the Bavarians are unwilling to exercise their €120million (£105million) option to buy him at the end of his spell.

Coutinho had previously played under Pochettino when the Argentine took him from Inter Milan to Espanyol while he was in charge of the Spanish club in 2012.

The Evening Standard claim that Barcelona, who paid €120million plus €40million in add-ons to take from from Liverpool in January 2018 are now prepared to cut their losses and accept consider bids in the region of €80million.

Barcelona believe that the Premier League is Coutinho’s most likely destination with Tottenham, Chelsea, Manchester United and Arsenal all said to be keen on the playmaker (The Sun).

Have something to tell us about this article?

  1. Did you know there is a virus? Do you know what Tottenham’s record signing is? Do you know who Tottenham’s chairman is? I am more likely to play for Tottenham than the club spend €80m on a player. The transfer market is going to be dead. Everyone will be looking for bargains or swaps. There really is absolutely no point regurgitating these articles.
