Report: Spurs could move for Celtic defender in the summer

Tottenham Hotspur are reported to be ready to move for Celtic defender Kristoffer Ajer in the summer, according to the Norwegian news outlet Sporten.

The 21-year-old’s agent, Tore Pedersen has claimed that he will definitely leave Parkhead at the end of the current campaign.

Ajer joined the Glaswegian giants from Norway side IK Start as a free agent in 2016 and has since gone on to establish himself as a regular in Neil Lennon’s side having made 49 appearances in all competitions for Celtic this season (transfermarkt).

The player who has two years left on his contract insisted in January that he had no desire to leave the club amid reported interest from both England and on the continent (Daily Record).

It is claimed that Celtic value the central defender at £26.7million with Spurs currently set to lose Jan Vertonghen at the end of the season when his contract expires.

Pedersen told the Scottish Sun: “He will not extend his contract with Celtic and will leave this summer.

“There are several clubs who are interested, but I can’t go into their names. There are many who have followed him for a long period.

“There are also clubs who would like to have him, but who cannot afford it. There is generally great interest in Kristoffer.”
