Report: Spurs could take advantage of Inter’s hesitation to sign rumoured target

Tottenham Hotspur are reported to be prepared to step in to take advantage of Inter Milan’s hesitation to sign Verona defender Marash Kumbulla.

Corriere di Verona (print edition, 02/09/20; pg 13) claim that Jose Mourinho’s side are mulling over making a firm approach for the 20-year-old.

Gianluca Di Marzio claimed in August that Kumbulla looked set to be on his way to the San Siro after a €30 million (£26.6m) transfer had been agreed between the two Serie A outfits.

Inter are said to have instead turned their attention away from the Italian-born Albanian international after deciding to focus on players with more experience.

Tottenham are yet to replace Jan Vertonghen following the Belgian’s departure from North London after his contract expired at the end of last season.

SpursWeb Opinion

Spurs have bigger priorities ahead of the transfer window closing with a back-up striker for Harry Kane surely a necessity following what we had to endure when both Kane and Son were injured in the early part of 2020.

We already have a number of central defensive options in Alderweireld, Tanganga, Sanchez, Foyth and even with Davies capable of slotting in.
