Report: Spurs emerge as front-runners for one of Europe’s brightest talents

Tottenham Hotspur are expected to dip into the transfer market following Saturday’s Champions League final against Liverpool as part of Mauricio Pochettino’s vision to take the club to the next level (BBC).

Sky Sports are reporting that Tottenham are front runners to sign PSV Eindhoven winger Steven Bergwijn.

The 21-year-old caught the eye during Tottenham’s Champions League group stage match against the Dutch side at Wembley in November and enjoyed an impressive season having scored 15 goals and provided 13 assists in 41 appearances in all competitions.

Bergwijn possesses all of the assets which would make him a valuable addition to the Spurs ranks; pace, trickery and knows how to find the back of the net.

PSV would prefer to sell the £35million rated winger to a team outside of Holland rather than strengthen rivals Ajax (Daily Mail).

Tottenham have not signed any fresh faces since the arrival of Lucas Moura from PSG in January 2018 and Bergwijn is certainly the type of player we need to help us to push on and challenge for silverware on a regular basis.

However, Spurs are likely to face competition from Premier League rivals Manchester United in the race to land the Dutch international (Sky Sports).
