Report: Spurs-linked Real Madrid player’s future is in doubt

Luka Jovic’s future at Real Madrid appears to be uncertain according to reports which suggest that the Spanish giants are considering offloading him.

Spanish news outlet Marca claim that Los Blancos are unlikely to offer Jovic any increased game time should the season be able to resume following the coronavirus pandemic and his time at the club appears to be in serious doubt.

The Mirror reported in January that Tottenham Hotspur head coach Jose Mourinho had singled out the Serbian striker as a possible transfer target only for a loan move to fail to materialise.

Jovic caught the eye during his time at Eintracht Frankfurt when he scored 27 goals in 48 games in all competitions last season for the German outfit (transfermarkt).

His efforts in front of goal saw him rewarded with a move to the Spanish capital in a deal worth €65m before add-ons.

He has failed to hit the same heights since his transfer after managing just 2 goals in 24 outings for Zinedine Zidane’s side during the current campaign (transfermarkt).

Spurs head coach Jose Mourinho admitted in January that he was keen to sign a new forward but was unable to get his wish (Evening Standard).

Opinion

Harry Kane’s injury problems over the past few seasons have highlighted the need for Daniel Levy to sign another forward, however this has fallen on deaf ears.

A player who is capable of taking the goalscoring burden off the shoulders of Harry Kane has to be a priority when the transfer window reopens.
