Report: Spurs-linked striker set to complete £22million switch to European giant

Rumoured Tottenham Hotspur target Darwin Nunez looks set to swap Almeria for Portuguese giants Benfica, according to Record.

Nunez, who scored 16 goals in 30 appearances in La Liga 2 for the Spanish side last season (transfermarkt) is reported to have travelled to Lisbon yesterday to undergo his medical ahead of a £22million move.

Tottenham (Football.London) and Brighton (Argus) have both been credited with interest in the 21-year-old Uruguayan striker.

Jose Mourinho admitted in January that he was keen to bring in another striker to his squad after losing the services of Harry Kane with a hamstring tear (Football.London).

After failing to land a marksman, Mourinho’s problems were increased when Heung-min Son fractured his arm just a matter of weeks later.

Spurs are also said to have already held talks with Josh King over a move to North London following Bournemouth’s relegation to the Championship, while also having an interest in his strike partner Callum Wilson (talkSPORT).
