Rumoured Tottenham Hotspur target Jonathan Ikone has no desire to leaving Lille before the transfer window ends early next month, his representatives have told La Voix du Nord.
Le10 Sport reported in July that both Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United were both keeping their eye on the left-footed right winger.
The 22-year-old scored four goals and provided seven assists in 36 appearances for Lille before the Ligue 1 season was cut short due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic (transfermarkt).
The youngster was started his career at Paris Saint-Germain’s academy but made just seven senior appearances with the French giants.
“Jonathan’s goal has never been to leave this year. We never spoke with another club. There’s no point in rushing,” his representative told La Voix du Nord.
While Ikone is considered to be a bright attacking talent, he does not fit the criteria of what we currently need.
Spurs failed to replace Fernando Llorente and instead should be looking to bring in an experienced target man with Napoli’s Arkadiusz Milik certainly someone who we should be moving heaven and earth to bring to North London.
