Report: Spurs make enquiry for Barcelona defender

Spanish news outlet Diario De Sevilla have claimed that Tottenham Hotspur have made an enquiry to Barcelona for right-back Emerson.

The Brazilian is currently halfway through a two-year loan stint at fellow La Liga side Real Betis.

The Catalan giants and Betis teamed up to sign the defender from Atletico Mineiro in a €12 million deal in January of last year (ESPN).

Emerson immediately joined Betis on a two-and-a-half-year deal to further his development while Barcelona held a £5.2m option to re-sign him once his contract expired in 2021 (Goal).

Serge Aurier’s future in North London has been cast into doubt in recent weeks with AC Milan and Monaco both said to hold an interest in the Ivorian captain (Sky Sports).

Fellow right-back Kyle Walker-Peter also looks set to be on his way out of the club after impressing on loan at Southampton and is expected to complete a permanent move to the Saints.
