Report: Spurs pair to undergo late fitness test ahead of Red Star match

Tottenham Hotspur face a crucial fixture tomorrow night in what could be a huge step towards Champions League qualification with a rare win at Red Star Belgrade.

The Mirror report that two Tottenham players who missed Sunday’s 1-1 draw at Everton will undergo late fitness tests.

Erik Lamela has been sidelined for the last two fixtures after picking up a hamstring problem in training, while Jan Vertonghen did not make the trip to Goodison Park with a similar problem.

Both players will now be assessed to see if they are fit enough to be included in the squad.

With Harry Kane also sitting out the trip to Merseyside through illness, Lamela’s absence robbed Mauricio Pochettino of yet another player in the final third.

It is also reported that Heung-min Son could sit out the trip to Serbia due to concerns he may not be in the right state of mind to play so soon after being visibly distraught at witnessing Andre Gomes’ serious ankle problem.

If Son is missing, along with Kane and Lamela it will seriously limit Tottenham’s attacking options.
