Report: Spurs prepared to pay over £200,000-a-week to land playmaker

Tottenham Hotspur are said to be willing to pay the wages necessary to bring Philippe Coutinho to North London, according to SPORT.

Spurs have been linked with a move for the Barcelona flop, who has spent the season on loan at Bayern Munich and will return to the Nou Camp (The Express).

The Mirror reported in March that Coutinho accepts that he might have to sign for Tottenham if he is to realise his ambition of returning to the Premier League.

Football Insider have claimed that Barcelona would be willing to loan out Coutinho for one season if a team is prepared to pay an £8 million loan fee and his entire wages.

Coutinho takes home over £200,000-a-week which is higher than the club’s current top earner Harry Kane.

Spurs are said to be setting their sights on loans and free transfers as well as potential cut-price deals as a result of the financial impact caused by COVID-19.
