Report: Spurs privately rule out £20m move for defender

Tottenham Hotspur are said to have privately ruled themselves out of having any interest in Arsenal’s Ainsley Maitland-Niles.

The Daily Mail claimed yesterday that Spurs were keen to raid their North London rivals to bring the 22-year-old across the divide to improve their options at right-back.

The report suggested that the Gunners are prepared to listen to offers in the region of £20million with Spurs having made the England Under-21 international their top priority after losing faith in Serge Aurier.

It appears that Maitland-Niles will not be following in the footsteps of Sol Campbell after Spurs made it clear behind the scenes that they will not be making an offer (Sky Sports).

Aurier’s future at Tottenham remains uncertain with AC Milan and Bayer Leverkusen both said to be interested in the Ivorian with the club open to allowing him to leave in order to generate funds for other transfer targets (Sky Sports).
