Report: Spurs ready £50m offer for former Manchester United player

Tottenham Hotspur are being linked with a move for a former Manchester United player.

The Mirror claim that Spurs are preparing a £50milion offer for Memphis Depay, who now plays his football in France for Lyon.

Depay scored just two goals in thirty three appearances over a two-year spell at Old Trafford before being sold to the Ligue 1 side for an initial £17million transfer fee (The Sun).

Tottenham are said to have sent scouts on two occasions to watch the Dutch international in action on a number of occasions including Lyon’s Champions League double header against Benfica.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side have struggled in the final third of the pitch this season, whilst Harry Kane and Heung-min Son have scored 10 and 8 goals respectively, the next nearest player is Erik Lamela on three goals (BBC).

Manchester United inserted a buy back clause into the agreement they have with Lyon, which has seen some supporters of the former Premier League champions to trigger it (The Sun).

The 25-year-old has scored 11 goals in 14 appearances in all competitions for Lyon this season (transfermarkt).
