Report: Spurs scouts in attendance to cast eye over highly-rated starlet

Tottenham Hotspur are reported to have joined a number of Premier League clubs in monitoring the progress of Bolton Wanderers player Luca Connell.

According to the Daily Mail, Spurs scouts were in attendance at the Macron Stadium for Bolton’s Championship match against Reading.

Connell, who only made his first senior start against Bristol City in the FA Cup on Friday impressed enough for manager Phil Parkinson to keep his faith in the 17-year-old midfielder to also start against the Royals where he featured for 72 minutes before being replaced by former Spurs academy player Joe Pritchard in their 1-0 defeat.

Southampton, Burnley and Brighton have also been credited with interest in the youngster who has only has six months left on his Bolton contract and could be forced to sell due to their financial troubles.

The Republic of Ireland youth international Connell has been fast-tracked from Bolton’s Under-18s and provided an assist against Bristol City.

While Connell could be one for the future, he would certainly not be ready to make the step up to Mauricio Pochettino’s side and would in all likeliness head into the academy if he were to make the move.
