Report: Spurs set to hand defender a new contract beyond 2022

Tottenham Hotspur are close to handing Dennis Cirkin a new contract to reward the youngster for his progress, according to Football Insider.

Cirkin is yet to make his senior debut but made the first team squad for two matches earlier this year in the FA Cup ties against Middlesbrough and Southampton along with the victory against Everton in the Premier League in July (transfermarkt).

While the arrival of Sergio Reguilon to compete with Ben Davies for the left-back berth may have made Cirkin’s prospects of breaking into the starting eleven more challenging in the short term, the club are said to hold the 18-year-old in very high regard.

The report claims that the England youth international will sign a deal which will keep him in North London beyond 2022.

Cirkin has been training with the Spurs first team on a regular basis and only signed his first professional deal with the club last November and received praise from Jose Mourinho (Football.London).
