Celtic have made significant progress in proceeding with their interest in Bolton Wanderers midfielder Luca Connell.

The Sun report that the Scottish giants have opened discussions with Bolton’s administrators to discuss a possible deal which would see the 18-year-old move for a training compensation fee payable for the third-year scholar.

Tottenham Hotspur were also linked with a move for the Republic of Ireland Under-18 international last month (The Sun) but it appears that Celtic are now in the box seat.

Connell made a dozen first-team appearances for Bolton last season who were relegated from the Championship and will start next season in League One with a 12-point deduction for going into administration.

Connell has been at Bolton’s academy for 10 years and was regularly watched by scouts after making his debut last season in an FA Cup win against Walsall.

Tottenham have already signed 17-year-old Notts County striker Kion Etete, who is regarded as one for the future (Nottingham Post).

Have something to tell us about this article?

  1. He is a young Southern Ireland under 18 player who longs like so many young Southern Ireland players to play for Celtic , they will linquish in the land of no where for years to come they would be better to stay in the English game and have a better chance of getting a more regular senior game .

    • Mr Duckett

Do you actually really know anything about Scottish football
or just the usual gob-brown I hear from apathetic, uninformed
      or uneducated English Football Imperialists

Maybe Luca Connell has the sense to ply his trade for a few years with a team
that has a real history and sense of purpose.

Maybe join a team that does rely on the money from Sky each year to pay a squad of also rans

Maybe not join a club to lanquish (note correct spelling) with the likes of Bobby Zamorra,
Calum Davenport, Boeteng, Loius Saha, Andy Booth and not forgetting Sissoko.

Maybe at least the stadium looks good.

      Yours Sincerely
languishing in the support of a team with 1 European cup, 50 league championships, 39
Scottish Cups and 18 league cups and lifetime of memories money cannot buy.
