Report: Spurs set transfer valuation to allow defender to leave

Cameron Carter-Vickers will return to Tottenham Hotspur in the coming days after spending another season out on loan.

The 21-year-old spent the current campaign on loan at Championship side Swansea City to gain further experience of first-team football after featuring for both Ipswich Town and Sheffield United in the previous season.

Carter-Vickers has arguably become something of a forgotten man amongst most Spurs fans. His last appearance for Tottenham came in League Cup during the 2016/17 campaign and he is still yet to make his Premier League debut.

Football Insider are reporting that Mauricio Pochettino is willing to allow the USA international to leave the club during the upcoming transfer window if a bid of £5million is lodged.

Tottenham have some big issues to solve at the heart of their defence this summer with Toby Alderweireld available for just £25million if a bid is received prior to the last two weeks of the window closing (Guardian).

Jan Vertonghen is another who is out of contract shortly, the Belgian’s deal runs out in the summer of 2020.

While fans will be hoping that Daniel Levy and Mauricio Pochettino will be active in the transfer market, there is also a lot of business that needs to be done within the current squad.
