Report: Spurs showed an interest in Spaniard before making summer signing

Tottenham Hotspur were reportedly interested in signing Brentford goalkeeper David Raya earlier this summer, according to Football.London.

The report claims that Spurs had been monitoring the Spaniard but dropped their interest once they signed Joe Hart.

The North Londoners confirmed the arrival of the former Manchester City shot stopper last month on a two-year deal after he became a free agent following the expiration of his contract at Burnley (Sky Sports).

Hart’s arrival has raised question marks over the future of Paulo Gazzaniga with the Argentine having been linked with a potential move to Premier League newcomers Fulham (Telegraph).

Gazzaniga found himself playing regularly for the former Champions League finalists last season after Hugo Lloris dislocated his elbow in October during the defeat at Brighton.

SpursWeb Opinion

We are relatively well equipped in the goalkeeping department with Lloris, Hart and Gazzaniga at the club.

While Lloris is no doubt the club’s number one, it will certainly be interesting to see whether Hart or Gazzaniga get the nod to take their place on the bench for Sunday’s visit of Everton.
