Report: Spurs taking an interest in another young French defender

Tottenham Hotspur are reported to be keen on AS Monaco central defender Benoit Badiashile according to France Football.

The 18-year-old made his professional debut with Monaco in a 4–0 Ligue 1 loss to PSG in November and was a mainstay in the side towards the end of the season following their successful battle against relegation under the returning Leonardo Jardim.

Badiashile is the second young French defender to appear on Tottenham’s radar in the past few days after Mauricio Pochettino’s side were also said to be ready to go head to head with North London rivals Arsenal for Saint-Étienne’s William Saliba (Daily Star).

Arsenal are already said to have launched a €23m bid plus €7m bonuses, but the French club are instead demanding the full €30m as an up front fee (L’Equipe).

Opinion

Toby Alderweireld’s future at Tottenham this summer is likely to be the catalyst on whether the club move for another central defender given the fact that we already have Vertonghen, Sanchez and Foyth on our books.
