Report: Spurs target placed up for sale with club looking to recoup £36.5m fee

Barcelona could be set to part company with Malcom this summer just twelve months after arriving at the club.

The Brazilian has made just fifteen appearances in his debut season with the Catalan giants, scoring on one occasion. He started just six La Liga games this season which is surely a sign that manager Ernesto Valverde does not hold him in high enough regard.

The 22-year-old arrived at Barcelona from Bordeaux in a £36.5million deal after beating Roma to his signature when he looked set that he would sign for the Italian side (BBC).

Spanish news outlet Sport report that Barcelona are ready to cut their losses on the Brazil Under-23 international and are looking to recoup the majority of money they spent on bringing him to the Nou Camp and have placed him up for sale.

Malcom has been linked with a potential switch to the Premier League with both Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal said to hold an interest (AS).

Spurs have been said to have keen on the midfielder since his time at Bordeaux and was linked with a switch to North London before joining Barcelona (Telegraph).

Opinion

Malcom is a player who certainly has potential to go on and become a star, however it appears that Barcelona have already decided that he won’t fulfill his talent at the club.

Mauricio Pochettino has a track record in getting the best out of his players and if Spurs can land him for around £36.5million he would certainly add some pace and trickery in the attacking third. Erik Lamela has once again been a disappointment this season with his indifferent form and injury record.
