Report: Spurs to allow defender to leave on loan in January

Tottenham Hotspur are preparing to loan out Kyle Walker-Peters in the January transfer window, according to The Sun.

The England Under 21 international was named in Mauricio Pochettino’s starting eleven for the opening three matches of the Premier League season but was forced off in the 62nd minute of the 1-0 defeat to Newcastle United with a hamstring problem.

His only appearance since came in the embarrassing Carabao Cup exit at the hands of League Two outfit Colchester United.

Pochettino has already played a number of players at right-back in the opening weeks of the new season with Walker-Peters, Serge Aurier, Davinson Sanchez and Moussa Sissoko all having made an appearance.

The Spurs manager admitted before the defeat to Brighton that Sissoko, who normally operates as a midfielder was the best option to replace the suspended Aurier (Football.London).

The Sun report that Crystal Palace are keen to take Walker-Peters on loan for the remainder of the season when the winter window opens on January 1st.

Palace were linked with a loan switch for the 22-year-old before the summer window closed only for a move to fail to materialise – The Sun (7 August, page 53).
