Report: Spurs under self-imposed transfer ban

Tottenham Hotspur are not prepared to entertain any transfer talks until after the Champions League final takes place.

Spurs will face Liverpool on June 1st in Madrid as they look to be crowned as champions of Europe for the first time in the club’s history.

Such is the focus on the match, they have decided to ban all talk of any potential transfers involving first team players (Evening Standard).

A host of players have been linked with potential moves away from North London during the upcoming off season with the transfer window officially opening tomorrow which will allow clubs to once again recruit ahead of the next campaign.

Spurs decided to trigger an extension in Toby Alderweireld’s contract in January that will keep him at the club until next summer, however, a £25million release clause which runs from tomorrow until the final two week’s of the window was activated (Telegraph).

Christian Eriksen is another high-profile player who has been dominating newspaper headlines in recent months with Real Madrid said to be keen on the playmaker (AS).

Tottenham are right to put their priorities ahead of those of individuals within the dressing room, the club will always be bigger than a single player and the Champions League is rightly the primary focus.
