Report: Spurs would be looking to drive a hard bargain for £142m playmaker

The Mirror claim that Tottenham Hotspur would be looking to drive a hard bargain if they were to launch a bid to sign Philippe Coutinho.

Spurs chairman Daniel Levy has built up a reputation of being a hard nosed negotiator when it comes to transfer dealings (Evening Standard).

The report highlights that Liverpool have made it clear that they have no interest in bringing the Barcelona player back to Anfield.

Spurs were heavily linked with a loan move for the Brazilian during the summer transfer window but a move failed to materialise and he instead joined Bayern Munich for the 2020/21 campaign (The Sun).

Coutinho has failed to live up to expectations at the Nou Camp since his £142m move from Liverpool in 2018 (Guardian).

Spurs are expected to face competition from fellow Premier League clubs with Manchester United said to have also made enquiries about his availability in recent weeks.

The North London side are missing a creative playmaker within their ranks following the sale of Christian Eriksen to Inter Milan in January.
