Report: Striker fears that club will block move to Spurs ahead of deadline

Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud reportedly wants to move to Tottenham Hotspur but fears that Chelsea will block a switch to their London rivals.

The Evening Standard claim that the former Arsenal player has his hopes set on a move to the white half of North London before the transfer window closes on Friday.

Giroud has fallen down in the striking pecking order at Stamford Bridge under Frank Lampard who has instead preferred to play Tammy Abraham as a front man.

Tottenham are seeking reinforcements for a suitable target man after Harry Kane suffered a hamstring tear on New Year’s Day that required surgery. The England international is not expected to return to training until April.

Giroud is said to be a man in demand having also attracted the interest of Barcelona, Inter Milan and Aston Villa (Mail).

The 33-year-old is looking to secure regular first team football ahead of this summer’s Euro 2020 and is looking to retain his place in the French squad.
