Report: Tottenham considering approach for former Liverpool favourite

Tottenham Hotspur are considering making an approach to Barcelona to sign Philippe Coutinho.

The Guardian claim that the Catalan giants are yet to receive an approach for the Brazilian with Spurs monitoring the situation.

Any potential interest from Tottenham in Coutinho will depend on the fate of Christian Eriksen.

The Dane expressed his desire to leave North London just days after the disappointing Champions League final defeat to Liverpool and invited interest from Barcelona’s biggest rivals, Real Madrid (Ekstra Bladet).

Whether Spurs would be prepared to meet Barcelona’s asking price for Coutinho would remain to be seen.

Spanish news outlet Mundo Deportivo report that Barcelona would be willing accept €120m (£107m) if any club can meet their valuation, which would represent a €15m (£13.4m) loss from the fee which they paid Liverpool for his services in January 2018.

Eriksen’s future at Spurs is still up in the air with the playmaker now in the last twelve months of his contract and despite stating his desire to leave, still finds himself a member of Mauricio Pochettino’s side.
