Report: Tottenham have transfer bid rejected with club wanting higher fee

Tottenham Hotspur are reported to have had a bid rejected for Leyton Orient defender Dan Happe.

The Sun report that Spurs tabled a £300,000 offer to the League Two newcomers who turned it down due to their belief that he is worth more.

The 20-year-old central defender is said to have also caught the attention of Leicester City, Norwich City and Leeds United.

Happe has just a year to run on his contract at Brisbane Road which will see them forced to cash in this summer or risk him leaving for free at the end of the next campaign.

Orient are hopeful that whoever lands Happe on a permanent deal will allow the player to return to the club on loan.

He becomes the third young central defender to be linked with a switch to North London in the space of a few days following in the footsteps of William Saliba (L’Equipe) and Benoît Badiashile (L’Equipe).

Opinion

Spurs are certainly in the market for a young central defender if reports in the press are to be believed. Hopefully not at the expense of Toby Alderweireld.
