Report: Tottenham’s Champions League hero set for Serie A switch

Tottenham Hotspur certainly played to the strengths of Fernando Llorente during the club’s progression to the Champions League final last season.

The Spaniard came off the bench in the quarter final second leg tie against Manchester City to score what proved to be the crucial goal with his hip to secure a place in the next round.

With Spurs looking as if they were heading out of the semi final against Ajax after finding themselves 3-0 down in Amsterdam, Llorente once again helped to change the course of the game with his physical style of play proving to be a challenge for the Dutch defenders and helping to create space for the likes of Lucas Moura to take advantage of.

Llorente left North London with not even an acknowledgment for the club following the expiration of his contract at the end of last season.

Sky Sports are reporting that 34-year-old will this weekend undergo a medical at Serie A side Napoli and put pen to paper on a two-year contract.

The departure of Llorente has left Pochettino without a more direct style of play with The Daily Mail reporting that the manager is concerned that the club no longer have a plan B following the former Juventus player’s departure.
