Report: Vincent Janssen makes his mind up on where he will play next season

Vincent Janssen has not had an easy time during his three years in North London with Tottenham Hotspur.

The Dutchman moved to Spurs in July 2016 from AZ Alkmaar for £17million on a four-year deal after scoring 27 league goals in the Dutch top flight the previous season (BBC).

Janssen has only scored six goals in just over forty appearances for the lilywhites and struggled to make an impact at the club which saw him spend last season on loan at Turkish giants Fenerbahce.

He came out of the wilderness to make his first appearance for Mauricio Pochettino’ side since August 20th, 2017 when he came off the bench for the last ten minutes of the victory against Brighton at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium at the end of July.

With just twelve months to run on his contract, it is looking likely that he could depart the club this summer to try and recoup some of the transfer fee which was paid.

According to Turkish news outlet Sporx, Janssen is set to join Bundesliga side Schalke 04 this summer after deciding to reject offers from China, Turkey and Belgium.

A clean start will certainly help the 25-year-old to revive his career while Spurs still need to be looking for an understudy to help relieve Harry Kane of the goalscoring burden at the club.
