Roma striker on verge of Spurs switch?

Roma striker Mirko Vucinic is said to be close to a move to Tottenham Hotspur.

The 27-year-old Montenegro international is on the verge of a switch to White Hart Lane in a deal worth around £13million if rumours on the net are to be believed.

Redknapp has already expressed his interest in signing Manchester City striker Emmanuel Adebayor on loan but his £170,000 a week wages are causing a problem and City would rather offload him on a permanent basis.

The Spurs boss knows he has to strengthen his squad if the club have any hope of mounting a challenge for the top four next season and also to persuade Luka Modric of the club’s ambition.

Since joining Roma in 2006 Vucinic has scored 46 goals in 147 appearances.
